One Place East
A Digital Champion is typically a volunteer who works with individuals or small groups to teach them digital skills. You don’t need to be an IT expert or have a coding degree; all you need is patience, enthusiasm, and empathy. Digital Champions help others improve their confidence in using technology and promote the benefits of having digital skills. They play a crucial role in bridging the digital divide and empowering people to navigate the online world effectively.

Main tasks and responsibilities
• Teach basic computer skills, such as using email or browsing the web.
• Help people understand online safety and privacy.
• Provide guidance on using specific software or apps.
• Encourage digital inclusion and bridge the digital divide by making technology accessible to all.
Benefits to Volunteer
By applying for a volunteer position via Community Action Redbridge, the applicant is aware that they will be entered on to One Place East database for monitoring purposes. The applicant will be required to complete a One Place East application from and undergo an enhanced DBS check if their application is successful.
