Social Media Digital Engagement Volunteer

Age UK (Redbridge, Barking and Havering)

We are looking for a creative, social media–skilled volunteer to help us develop our online presence! Age UK Redbridge, Barking & Havering is full of amazing stories, events, and community impact—and we need your help to bring it all to life on platforms like Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.

If you’ve got a flair for fun, friendly content and know your way around social media scheduling and engagement, we’d love your help developing our social media presence. Whether it's creating eye-catching posts, suggesting hashtags or scheduling posts in advance, your input could make a huge difference.


Main tasks and responsibilities

  •  Creating engaging, accessible content for Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn
  •  Helping plan and schedule posts in advance
  • Suggesting relevant hashtags and content ideas
  • Supporting promotion of events, services and campaigns
  •  Helping increase engagement through likes, shares and comments
  •  Ensuring content reflects Age UK’s friendly, supportive and inclusive tone

What skills do I need?

Skills, attributes, experience nad qualifications

  • Confidence using social media platforms (especially Facebook and Instagram)
  • A creative eye for simple graphics, photos or short captions
  • An understanding of how to engage different audiences online
  • Reliability and good communication skills
  • A friendly, positive approach and interest in community-focused work
  • You don’t need professional marketing experience—just enthusiasm, creativity, and social media know-how.
  • Need to be 18+


What Success Looks Like

Success for us is seeing more engagement—likes, shares, and smiles. Mainly reaching older people, or those with older people in their lives who might need us, and inspiring more support from our community.
