About Us
DodgyTickers is a community-led fitness and wellbeing programme created by and for people living with cardiovascular disease, as well as those over 50 who want to stay healthy and active. For over 10 years we’ve been running adapted exercise sessions, social activities, and mental health support, all without external funding—powered instead by goodwill, volunteers, and passion.
We are now seeking a creative and organised Event Planner/Manager to help us grow our impact and bring our community together through inspiring, well-run events.
About the Role
This exciting volunteer role will put you at the heart of DodgyTickers’ community spirit. You will coordinate volunteers (our “Ambassadors”) and lead our participation at local community events, making sure our work reaches the people who need it most.
Main tasks and responsibilities
- Event Coordination: Organising DodgyTickers’ presence at community fairs, health expos, and promotional events
- Marketing & Promotion: Designing and sourcing marketing materials (pull-up banners, leaflets, and social media posts)
- Community Celebrations: Planning our annual Christmas Dinner & Awards Night, including arranging awards, catering, and hiring a videographer
- Trips & Activities: Organising our annual member trip—domestic or overseas—which may include opportunities like Walking Football tournaments
- Fundraising: Helping plan fundraising tournaments and events to support the long-term sustainability of DodgyTickers
Benefits to volunteer
- A chance to play a key role in our grassroots health and wellbeing programme
- Hands-on experience in event planning, community engagement, and volunteer management
- The satisfaction of seeing your efforts directly impact people’s lives
- Opportunities to build networks across community health, sport, and wellbeing sectors

- A great communicator with a positive, can-do attitude
