Could you help us to make a real difference to people in crisis in Redbridge?

As a Foodbank helper, your role is to welcome clients to the Foodbank centre (Jubilee Church/New Testament Church of God). 

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Receive vouchers, check validity, and prepare food parcels according to the standard packing lists.
  • Make refreshments and tidy up as required during the session.
  • Offer a listening ear and signpost clients, as required, to further support, using information from the sign posting folder/leaflets.
  • Check stock for imminent 'best before' dates, place out-of-date food in appropriate box in store room for disposal and record the action.
  • Wear branded clothing and a name badge during the session.
  • Work under the guidance of the session leader and report any health & safety or safeguarding concerns to the project manager/session supervisor.

  • Listening skills and empathy for people using Foodbank services
  • Ability to work as part of a team and support other team members
  • Ability to work on own with just a little bit of supervision
  • Willingness to get "stuck in"
  • Attention to detail
  • Desire to work with people from all diverse backgrounds
  • Reliability and commitment
  • Need to be 18+

Jubilee Church is based near Valentine's Park in Ilford. New Testament Church of God is based in Barkingside.
