The Fundraising role focuses on securing funds that support the service and keep it running. Volunteers help build relationships with supporters, find new opportunities for grants and donations, and make sure the service’s work is visible to people who want to help.

Tasks include:

  • helping to plan and run fundraising events
  • creating materials such as newsletters or presentations to raise the profile of the service
  • looking into additional opportunities such as funding bids or approaching local businesses.
  • volunteers may also help with other general tasks that support the team.

This role benefits volunteers by giving them the chance to:

  • make a real difference to people’s lives
  • gain new skills and knowledge
  • build experience for employment
  • use and develop existing skills
  • improve confidence and wellbeing, meet new people
  • get to know their local community
  • feel part of a supportive team with expert training.

What skills do I need?

Volunteers should be:

  • friendly, approachable and patient, non‑judgmental, and respectful of different views, values and cultures.
  • good verbal and written communication skills are important, along with confidence in English and being comfortable using digital technology.
  • volunteers need to be willing to learn about and follow Citizens Advice aims, principles and policies, including confidentiality and data protection, and be willing to undertake training for the role.
