*Training Dog Fosterer Volunteer* at Guide Dogs for the Blind Association : Community Action Redbridge

Do you love dogs but find that daytime commitments make pet ownership difficult? We have the perfect opportunity for you!

Guide Dogs is looking for volunteer fosterers in and around Wanstead to provide a loving home for adult dogs while they complete their guide dog training at our Woodford Green training school.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

As a Volunteer Fosterer, you will care for a trainee guide dog during evenings, nights, and weekends while they attend training during the day. This rewarding role helps provide the stability, care, and socialisation dogs need as they prepare for their future life supporting someone with sight loss.

What You'll Do

Provide a safe, caring home for a guide dog in training.
Enjoy spending time with your foster dog during evenings and weekends.
Support the dog's development by maintaining routines and providing affection and companionship.

Training school times

Earliest drop-off: 7:00am
Latest pick-up: 6:45pm

You'll play a vital role in helping guide dogs progress through their training and make a life-changing difference to people with sight loss.

What skills do I need?

Skills, attributes, experience and qualifications

We welcome applications from a variety of households. You may be suitable if:

You live in or near Wanstead and can travel to Woodford Green daily.
You are available to care for the dog during evenings and weekends.
You can commit to fostering for approximately 3-6 months.
Have your own home or written permission to have a dog in the home.
Have suitable accommodation and a secure outdoor area.
Able to follow all training and welfare guidelines provided by Guide Dogs.
Need to be 18+ years old
