About the role:

This is excellent experience for those wishing to embark on a career in the fields of social care or psychology.

Where does the role take place:  - Head office is Ilford Chambers however Befriending takes place across Redbridge  ( We try to make placements for volunteers in their chosen area of  Redbridge)

Main tasks and responsibilities 

  • As a volunteer you will provide 1:1 social/emotional support to a service user on their recovery journey. This is excellent experience for those wishing to embark on a         career in the fields of social care or psychology .
  • To identify, discuss, record and plan achieving aspirations
  • To support the befriended in achieving their goals and aspirations, assisting with overcoming any obstacles or challenges met
  •  Liaising with organisations who can offer support, such as education, employment, local libraries, sports and activities centres etc
  •  Assisting to make connections within the local community
  • Time Commitment: -   Minimum of 2 hours per week

By applying for a volunteer position via Community Action Redbridge, the applicant is aware that they will be entered on to One Place East database for monitoring purposes. The applicant will be required to complete a One Place East application from and undergo an enhanced DBS check if their application is successful.

    A ramp to the ground floor of the building. A lift service all floors. Accessible toilet facilities.

    Over 18's only.

    An enhanced DBS check is required for this role. We will assist with the application process and cover costs.
