Volunteer Mentor for young Women in STEM Careers
Main tasks and responsibilities
- to provide personalised guidance and support to young women interested in pursuing STEM fields.
- You will offer advice, share experiences, and assist them in navigating their STEM career paths.
- You will help to deliver our 12 weeks #BeMedigitalinclusion mentoring program to young women to help raise aspirations,
- Develop key skills, confidence, and knowledge needed to succeed in STEM careers.
- Mentoring sessions will comprise 1-hour online sessions with small groups via Google meets, Microsoft Teams or Zoom.
- Mentors will collaborate closely with Program coordinators, teachers’, other mentors, and the mentees themselves to ensure a supportive and enriching mentoring experience.
- The students will need support with topics such as an introduction to STEM and STEM careers,G
- Growth mindset and confidence building,
- STEM exam/interview preparation, STEM career guidance, STEM C.V. writing session, STEM interview techniques, setting goals and plans, as well as technical and online training in Web 3.0, Blockchain and NTFs. All resources will be provided.
Volunteer position: Rolling commitment
1hr -2hrs a week | Online | 1 mentor to 5-6 mentees (Female students | 13 - 15 year olds)
Minimum once per week, maximum twice per week. Sessions are delivered on weekdays only.
Sessions can run during or after school time - this would be dependent on the school availability.

What skills do I need?
Skills, attributes, experience and qualifications
- Strong background in a STEM-related field such as computer science, engineering, or information technology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Organisational skills.
- Empathy and patience.
- Experience in mentoring or coaching individuals, particularly young women, in educational or professional settings.
- Knowledge of the STEM industry landscape.
- Familiarity with mentorship best practices and strategies.
- Ability to adapt mentoring approaches to meet the needs of diverse mentees.
- Empathy and patience.
- Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in STEM fields.
- Possession of a valid Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check or willingness to undergo the process.
- Ned to be 18+ years old.
