Black Woman Kindness Initiative (BWKI)

Black Woman Kindness Initiative (BWKI) is a community organisation dedicated to empowering, uplifting and supporting women of colour through wellbeing, creativity, enterprise and storytelling. We create safe, inclusive spaces where women can connect, grow in confidence and access opportunities that support both personal and professional development.

Our social media plays an important role in sharing these stories, celebrating achievements and reaching women who may benefit from our work.

Purpose of the Role

We are looking for a creative and enthusiastic Social Media Assistant who understands the power of positive storytelling and community engagement.

Working closely with the Founder, you will help bring BWKI's programmes and events to life through engaging content that reflects our values, celebrates our community and increases awareness of our work.

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Create engaging Instagram content, including posts, stories and Reels.
  • Schedule and publish content across BWKI's social media platforms.
  • Capture and edit short videos and photographs from events where appropriate.
  • Help maintain a consistent visual identity and tone of voice across our social media.
  • Support the promotion of workshops, events, programmes and community initiatives.
  • Monitor engagement and respond to comments or messages where appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively with the Founder to develop content ideas and monthly social media plans.


What skills do I need?

Skills, attributes, experience and qualification

  • Has a genuine interest in BWKI's mission and the communities we support.
  • Is confident using Instagram, including creating Reels, Stories and carousel posts.
  • Has a creative eye for photography, video and visual storytelling.
  • Can write clear, engaging captions.
  • Is organised, reliable and able to work independently.
  • Understands how social media can build community and encourage positive engagement.
  • Is respectful, professional and able to communicate sensitively when representing BWKI.

Details

Approximately 2–4 hours per week, with flexibility around events and campaigns. Volunteer can choose days which suit them.
