We provide free, confidential, independent and impartial advice and campaigns on big issues affecting people’s lives.  Our Goal is to help everyone find a way forward, whatever problem they face. 

We are an independent charity and part of the Citizens Advice network across England and Wales. 

Volunteer Telephone  Adviser.  Home based.

The primary aim is to increase the provision of free telephone general advice.  We would like to provide an increased number of trained advisers, within financially excluded areas and those from deprived communities. 

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • To provide general advice to residents who telephone our services, training will be provided
  • IT skills - the ability to use basic email, basic Internet, basic word processing, ability to write a letter.

  • Basic reference after six months of volunteering.

What skills do I need?

Skills, attributes, experience and qualifications

  • A time commitment of one day a week for 9 months would be preferred
  • Minimum age requirement 18+
  • Educated to Level 2 GCSE's or equivalent. 
  • An ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with clients.
  • Good teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Good written and numerical skills.
  • Excellent listening skills.
  • Be a confident self-starter with a client focused approach.
  • A non-judgemental manner.
