Volunteer Events Assistant

Colours of Redbridge

The community commission projects have been developed with local groups called ‘Community Producers’. These ‘test’ projects include a series of workshops and events and will be delivered between June and November 2024 across the borough. We are looking for volunteers to support the following events, Kite Flying Day, Streets of Colour Parade and Lantern Parade and workshops.

Main tasks and responsibilities 

  • Assisting artists to setup/prepare before the workshop and takedown/tidy after the workshop. 
  • Giving directions at the events either to members of the public or other workers on site. 
  • Managing the entrance gate or venue door. 
  • Meeting and greeting attendees, staff or volunteers. 
  • Standing by the front desk/ take register of attendees. 
  • Helping to set up different site equipment such as a gazebo or tables and chairs. 
  • Helping to manage a procession route (where there is a parade element). 
  • Help managing queues of people. 
  • Picking up litter or tidying up. 
  • Other duties similar to the above.

What skills do I need?

Skills, attributes, experience and qualifications 

  • 18+ years old. 
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage time effectively during sessions. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a passion for engaging with diverse communities. 
  • Ability to travel to session locations across the borough. 
  • Enthusiasm to make things happen and make a difference in your community.
