Women4Women Community Champion

Positive East

African, Caribbean or South Asian Women -Community Champion Volunteer  required in:

Targeted Boroughs- Tower Hamlet, Waltham Forest, Newham, Redbridge, Havering and Barking & Dagenham.

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Inform and advise women about what sexual health services and sexual health & HIV testing, PrEP and how to access PrEP.
  • Community engagement, holding stall at events, giving talks presentations and workshops within their communities.
  • Connect with your community and inform them about women's' HIV prevention options.
  • Assisting women to access PrEP
  • Assisting the w4w coordinator to run testing clinics, workshops and events.
  • Assist in the creation & design of culturally competent resources.
  • Assist in the collection of data and feedback which will be used to inform service delivery improvements.
  • Assist and undertake community research.
  • An opportunity to train in and conduct STI/HIV testing
  • Attendance at CDP Accredited training sessions is mandatory. (equivalent of 2 days)
  • Commitment to the project until 2028.
  • Champions will have an individually tailored workplan. Hours of work are lead by the champion's availability and interests.


What skills do I need?

Skills, attributes, experience and qualifications

  • Women of African, Caribbean or South Asian descent
  • No qualifications required
  •  Confident in the use of English, spoken and written
  • A desire to engage the community about women's sexual health and HIV Prevention
  • Recording data and basic computer skills
  • A desire to do community outreach
  • Available some weekdays, evenings and weekends
  •  Committed to anti racism and intersectional inclusiveness
  •  Values that align with meeting the needs of all in society
  • Understand, respect and maintain confidentiality
  •  Enhanced DBS is required for volunteering.
  • Need to be 18+ years old.

Each champion will have an individual implemention plan which will outline their availablity, their interests, how they will use their learning to meet the W4W objectives.
