Food bank driver

Ilford Lane Food Bank- ICSS

Ilford Land Food Bank (ILFB) provides essential food, toiletries, feminine hygiene and baby products for people and families in crisis, working in partnership with organisations across the community as well as Fareshare, Neigbourly and the Felix Project. Drivers play a fundamental role in the running of the food bank, collecting food donations from a variety of locations across the local area as well as delivering to the Ilford Lane Food bank at the Ilford Lane Engagement Hub.

You’ll play an important role in promptly transporting food from collection points to ILFB for sorting and handing out to service users which will help to make a real difference in your community. A confident and safe driver, you’ll enjoy being part of a team and be physically strong so that you can lift and load crates of food. Your flexible and committed approach will help to maximise donations and improve the efficiency of the food bank.

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Collecting food donations from collection points such as supermarkets around the local area.
  • Delivering food donations to ILFB.
  • Carrying heavy boxes of canned foods.
  • Regular loading and unloading of vehicles.
  • Regular driving across the local area.

What skills do I need?

Skills, attributes, experience and qualifications

  • Clean driving license.
  • This role requires physically demanding tasks and mobility.  
  • Confident, law-abiding, and safety-conscious driver, committed to responsible road use.
  • Adaptable and flexible, with the ability to adjust quickly to changing needs and environments.
  • Warm, approachable, and community-minded, with a strong commitment to volunteering and following regulations responsibly.
  •  Need to be available Mondays 9.30am-11.30 am and if possible on other days during the week
  • Need to be over 21+
